project, 26 articles, covered the whole ethnic history of the city, every geographic neighborhood, and a lot more. and it's sold extremely well, all over the country. it was an unusual development, and it's been selling ever since. it's a phenomenon that don't quite understand, but what i discovered was what a fantastic account this is. you know, i had left albany and really never wanted to come back. you know, i come back for the family, but when the circumstances brought me back and i got thrust into the situation, so i started to see what an epic history this city has. it's the second oldest chartered city in the country, in the 17th century, and it's, it's been, you know, it has a history as long before the revolution as it has had since. it was a central meeting place for all those revolutionaries during the american revolution. washington was in town all the time. lafayette, philip schuyler, one of the generals of the revolution lived in albany. and benjamin franklin and so on and so on and so on, in the history of those years. and then in the early 19th century, albany became the

color of d.c. taxicabs. part of an effort to modernize the city's fleet. derrick ward spoke to customers about what color they think would be best for d.c. >> reporter: d.c.'s cab industry is nothing if not colorful. of course, there are the yellow cabs which look more orange and the ecofriendly green cab that's more white than green. and where is the red, white, and blue on the patriot cab? the d.c. taxicab commission is considering rather to make things less ironic by establishing a uniform color in the city. this driver thinks maybe they should opt for day glow green. >> you can see far away. the kids love it and they like it, and this is a real good color. >> you can spot it a mile off. >> reporter: but these english visitors also think it's the strong suit for cabs in london. most of those are black. >> because you can then spot them really easily in the distance. >> reporter: and the taxi industry in cities like new york seem to have survived uniformity. >> like in new york the yellow seems a predominantly easy color to see. >> caller: d.c. branding, as thetices, and an e
